Word-of-mouth marketing is by far the most cost-effective form of advertising a business can have. Statistics demonstrate that the average person has at least 350 people in his sphere of influence. Granted, the average person is not going to talk about your business to all 350 people they know, but having them talk positively to even one can translate into a powerful, free ad that has a great return potential for your business. A friend telling a friend or acquaintance about your business is a bit like pushing a snowball down a hill. One friend tells another, who tells another, who tells another and soon, you've gained a valuable customer or two. The psychology of affiliate marketing Think about it. Would you be more likely to go to a new restaurant you saw advertised in your local paper, or go to a new restaurant recommended by an acquaintance or friend? Most people choose friend. Why? Even in an acquaintance-type relationship, there is a level of trust that has already been established. There is psychological value that stems from getting information from another person. We tend to believe that "real" people have our best interests at heart. Enter affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing can be likened to word-of-mouth marketing via the internet. Although this is not strictly the case, there are similarities that do exist. Affiliate marketing is a marketing practice in which a business rewards people and/or other entities for creating customers or sales for that business via affiliate's marketing efforts. In essence, the affiliate is spreading the word about a company's product or service, usually using the internet. Capitalizing upon word-of-mouth marketing Referral fees have been standard in business practice for years. Affiliate marketing simply capitalizes on the concept, while expanding it to a world-wide marketplace. It's the electronic commerce version of the traditional agent/referral fee with a twist. Businesses have taken the concept of revenue sharing and answered the question, "What's in it for me?" Because you no longer have to be a marketing or advertising executive with a degree and a slick campaign to cash in on the World Wide Web, companies now have access to an affiliate's sphere of influence - an affiliate can be anyone with time, access to a computer, and a passion for promotion. Affiliate marketing could be viewed as taking word-of-mouth marketing to its outer edges. Often times, an affiliate marketer has what could be deemed as an acquaintance-type relationship with the person to whom he is promoting a product or service. This means the affiliate has attracted a database of warm leads who are looking for a particular type of product or service. Because of this "soft" relationship, affiliate marketing may seem to be less of a "sales pitch" to the consumer than traditional types of advertising. While this is not actually the case, it shows that affiliate marketing with its word of mouth twist is highly effective. Christian Fea is a Collaboration Marketing Strategist. by Chris Malta & Robin Cowie Don't 'cut the line'! Currently, in our wholesaler database OneSource, we list thousands of genuine, verified Wholesale Suppliers. We're very proud of that; it took a long time and a great deal of difficult research to get there. That's more genuine Wholesale Suppliers, by far, than are listed in all the other lists and "directories" out there combined. Sure, others claim to list thousands, but those thousands are almost all fakes and middlemen. We continue to add new genuine Wholesale Suppliers all the time. However, once in a while we lose a Wholesale Supplier or two as well. Why? Do they decide they no longer want to drop ship? Do they go out of business? No. They decide that they don't want to deal with the number of people we send them who do not follow their instructions when setting up a new account! This can be a bad thing for both of us. For us, it's bad because we spend a great deal of time and money researching genuine Wholesale Suppliers. We don't just pull these companies out of a quick trip to a Search Engine, like all the other lists and "directories" on the Internet. As you know from reading our site, we put a great deal of effort into our research, and spend a lot of money on large numbers of "raw leads" that we develop into just a few real Wholesale Suppliers that "make the cut" into OneSource. We don't like to lose those companies, but if they tell us to remove them, we remove them. For you, it's bad because every Wholesale Supplier that drops out of OneSource is a lost opportunity for you. You won't find most of these companies listed anywhere else, in any other list or "directory". As I said, we don't just search the Search Engines. Our "raw leads" are lists of thousands of manufacturers and wholesalers across the US and around the world. We buy those lists from high-powered Research companies, and then we contact every manufacturer and wholesaler on those lists in order to find out if any of them Drop Ship, Light Bulk Wholesale, or will work with home-based eBiz. For example, in June of this year, we focused on finding new Wholesale Suppliers of products that would be good for the upcoming Holiday Season. One of the things we wanted to find were new Wholesale Suppliers of Toys. So, as part of our research, we went to one of our Research sources and ordered a specially-designed list of raw leads containing only manufacturers and wholesalers of Toys. That list cost us more than a thousand dollars. It wasn't the only one we ordered in June; we spent several thousand dollars on raw leads in June, as we do just about every month. Once we had this list, our Research Team spent a great deal more time sending out emails, making phone calls, responding to questions, and working with the suppliers on that list to sort out the few who were qualified to make it into our database. So, as I said, you won't find most of our Wholesale Suppliers listed anywhere else on the Internet. Many of them don't advertise themselves as Drop Shippers or Light Bulk Wholesalers, since it's not their primary mission. Many others were convinced to become Drop Shippers or Light Bulk Wholesalers by us, and also do not advertise themselves that way. Because of all this, if we lose a Wholesale Supplier, in most cases you lose them as well. You won't be able to contact them any other way, because you won't even know they're out there. So, back to the point of this article. The one reason, more than any other by far, that a Wholesale Supplier requests to be removed from OneSource is because they get tired of dealing with people who do not pay attention to their instructions on setting up new Accounts. Let's look at it from the Wholesale Suppliers' point of view. They think it's wonderful to be in our Database. We do not charge them a cent to be listed with us. If we did, there might be many companies who would not be willing to pay a listing fee. We would be short-changing you, our Members, by excluding legitimate Wholesale Supplier from our Database simply out of greed. That's not the way we operate. We list all genuine Wholesale Suppliers for free. Again, the Wholesale Suppliers think that's great. We get emails and phone calls from them all day long, telling us how wonderful they think our Database is for their businesses. However, you have to understand that they are now getting a lot of new Account sign-ups, from our Members. To the Wholesale Supplier, that means Paperwork, and sometimes lots of it, depending on how they have their business set up. They all need to know who you are, so they have to process your New Account information. That takes them time. Most of them have to assign you to a specific Sales Rep. More paperwork; more time. Nearly all of them need to get a copy of your Tax ID. More paperwork; more time. After they have your New Account fully set up and processed, they have a certain amount of time invested in you. In the reality of the Business World, only about 10% of a Wholesale Supplier's New Account sign-ups will ever do business with them. We know that a lot of our Members, when they get our Database, go a little wild and start signing up for accounts with nearly every Wholesale Supplier we list. :o) That's not our recommendation, but it happens anyway. Those people who sign up for so many Accounts only tend to end up using a small number of them, once they finally decide what they want to sell. As a result, about 90% of the New Account sign-ups that a Wholesale Supplier gets from our Members end up being unused; that Member will go off and use Accounts they set up with other Wholesale Suppliers instead. That, in itself, is not a bad thing. Wholesale Suppliers in general are used to this kind of thing. It's a normal part of the wholesale-retail relationship, and the Wholesale Supplier can handle that. The point at which some Wholesale Suppliers begin to get upset is when some few of our Members don't bother to follow their instructions. I was talking with one of the owners of a Wholesale company in our Database just a few days ago about this issue. He said that they have a very clear and simple sign-up process outlined on their Web Site, and that they had spent a good deal of money setting up and automating that process. I went to their web site to look at the process myself. It couldn't have been simpler. "I get emails all the time from OneSource Members asking about New Accounts", he said, "and that's great. I have a standard email I send back, with instructions on how to go to our web site and sign up. But then, many of those people write back, asking more questions about the Account Signup Process. It's all explained right there on the web site, where I told them to go in the first place. It seems that they just don't want to take the time to read it. We don't mind answering calls and emails from our Retailers. That's part of our Customer Service. But, when we have to take time away from helping our existing Retailers in order to tell someone something that is already very obvious, it gets frustrating". "Then", he went on to say, "we get people who are incredibly impatient. I get phone calls from people who say, 'I emailed your company three times already about setting up a New Account, and nobody got back to me!' We know our Customer Service is better than that, so we check our email Inbox. What we find is that they emailed us three times within the past hour, and we just haven't had time to get back to them yet!" We then talked about the thing that frustrates him the most. "People just bypass the whole process sometimes", he said. "We'll get emails that say 'my name is Joe Smith, here's my address, and this is my Tax ID. Set me up a New Account right away'. We simply will not do that, when we have a process already in place that's designed to save us time, and save them time as well. They can go through the process on our site in just about five minutes, and our Database automatically sets them up with everything they need. We didn't spend time and money developing that system so that we could go back and manually enter an Account for anyone who doesn't feel like following our process." As you can see, there are reasons for following the processes laid out by the Wholesale Suppliers we list in our Database. This gentleman was considering asking us to remove his company from OneSource. Of course, we did not want to lose him, so I told him that I would write this article in order to help all of our Members to understand what suppliers like him go through in order to set up new Accounts. We know that most of our Members do follow the processes that our Wholesale Supplier ask them to. This article isn't meant to chastise anyone. It's just meant to help everyone understand these things from the Wholesale Suppliers' point of view. The better you understand the companies you work with, the more successfully you can work with them! :o) So, here's a quick list of things to remember when signing up for a New Account with a Wholesale Supplier, or with any Service or Supply company you might use in your business: Read the company's web site before calling or writing with questions. Most of the time the answer is already there for you. - Don't get impatient! In the real business world, things take time. Many companies can set you up with an Account either instantly, or within a day or two. Sometimes it takes a week or two. Again, you'll usually find Processing Time information right on their web sites.
- Don't try to shortcut the process! There are good reasons for the processes that suppliers use. They generally do not like it when someone tries to "move to the front of the line" by calling or emailing outside of their process.
- As I said, these tips work well for any company you work with, not just your suppliers. You need the goodwill of the people who service and supply your business, so work within their processes, and you'll find them very easy to work with!

By Ray Nwambuonwo There are a few marketing tricks you can use to begin building traffic to your website. If you are an affiliate marketer, or network marketer, this method will bring you target traffic by using article submission. The first thing to remember is that you should be the person writing your articles if you want this trick to work for free. You do not have to be a great writer at all. If this seems too daunting, then there are writers on the Internet that will take over this task for you. Article submission to drive traffic to your site needs to have the subject matter of your articles be something about the product, or company you are trying to market on your site. It does no good to have your article be about pencils, if you are trying to market pens. Break up your articles into small 500 word articles using SEO methods. Optimizing your articles for article submission to content sites is to get your articles listed naturally as part of that content site. Google loves article sites. Their spiders index these article content sites on a regular basis. When your article submission is accepted, this then becomes a part of that site and gets indexed along with everything else for article submission into the search engine. Use target keywords in your articles. If the product you're writing about is foreign auto parts with regards to hubcaps, then your keyword might be "foreign car hubcaps". You would want to use this keyword at least 6-8 times throughout your article. This helps to make your article relevant to Google, when it is indexed. This also will go far to give your article a high ranking when someone is looking for foreign car hubcaps for their car. SEO article submission like this will target your market so your traffic is right on what you are marketing. The key to people reading your articles then getting to your marketing page is simple. All of the article content sites will allow you to leave a link at the bottom of your article. This link would be the URL to your page so you receive the traffic generated from your article submission. It helps to leave a closing comment to your readers, so if they are looking for a wide selection of foreign car hubcaps, they can follow your link to check out this resource. This is the key to making this trick work to receive targeted traffic. Article submission to article content sites is not a new marketing trick, but it is an effective one. Done correctly, your article submission has the power to rank first page on Google and stay there for months, generating a steady income resource to you over and over again. Another key to article submission is to engage your readers so they don't just leave without finishing the article. It has been shown that people reading online have a shorter attention span than when reading a magazine article. If your article entices the readers to want more information about the subject, then they are more than likely going to follow the link you left for them at the bottom of it. Copyright © Tracey Merrells-Fort http://www.MoneyMarketingSuccess.comWhen you set out to earn money at home with the help of a steady affiliate revenue stream, you know that it is the pay per click (PPC) affiliate program which truly opens the door to making a lot of money in a relatively short period of time. As a matter of fact, even as these programs are few and far between - and at times tied to past performance as an affiliate of a merchant - website entrepreneurs are tirelessly on the lookout to add just such an opportunity to their portfolio. To earn money at home with pay per click program does not require the visitors to your site which you send to the merchant to make any purchases; instead, you are credited simply for the website visitor's act of clicking through the link you placed on your site. It goes without saying that too many a home based affiliate marketer it is this kind of promise of remuneration that will set them to work feverishly in an effort to drive visitors in droves to the website in question. On the other hand, the downside of these programs can be traced back to the fact that many a time the click through credit is very low - sometimes as low as a penny - and when you consider that it will take 100 unique visitors to just equal one dollar, and about $25 to $50 for many an affiliate administrator to start paying out, you can also understand why these programs - coveted though they may be - will soon serve to disillusion the work from home marketer. This is rather unfortunate, especially considering that anyone who is serious about earning money at home with an affiliate income opportunity will quickly realize that instead of treating this kind of business opportunity as an incidental stream of revenue, it needs to become the front and center focus of the home business itself. Market research, advertising trends, target audience studies, and other regular research that any entrepreneur puts into their business needs to be put into the activity of making this pay per click program popular and much sought after. Understanding the ever fickle nature of the Net as well as changes in consumer behavior are key components to keeping the program on the cutting edge and having web surfers come to your site - rather than a competitor's - and click the links that mean profit in your pocket. On the flipside, sometimes the trick to really earn money at home with a PPC program is to simply pass another one by. Remember that no matter how easy the money, some programs will simply not work on your website or against the backdrop of the other programs you are currently involved with. For example, if you are heavily marketing to faith based communities, a gambling affiliate PPC program is not going to work and may actually adversely affect all of your revenue streams. To this end it is wise to periodically reevaluate all of your affiliate programs as you seek to earn income with pay per click programs and also other revenue streams concurrently. Copyright © Tracey Merrells-Fort http://www.MoneyMarketingSuccess.comInternet savvy entrepreneurs know that the Net is where the money is, but many an incredible website that hypes a perfect work from home opportunity will actually seek to fleece you rather than get your working at home. The site illustrates the efficacy of the program being offered by displaying photos of a happy mom or dad with kids admiringly looking up at the parents. Even as the actual business opportunity is not discussed but for the most rudimentary mentions, a trifling investment of a mere $19.95 supposedly permits you to receive a starter kit that contains not only the details of the business opportunity but all the materials needed to get started and thus start your own home business. While it sounds too good to be true, it also begs the question how you can recognize a one in a lifetime opportunity and then differentiate it from your daily garden variety scam? As you ask how to start your own business from home while avoiding Internet scams, you must take a three step approach. 1. If the opportunity were bona fide and truly as profitable as the website states, why is it advertised via an unsolicited e-mail campaign? In addition to the foregoing, why is the email not addressed to you but some odd sounding alias, and why is the return address not the same as stated on the email itself? In other words, why have you been spammed? An honest to goodness home business opportunity is not advertised via unsolicited email. 2. Avoid the common Internet scam that seeks to persuade you that skills - which take experts in the field years or even decades to hone - can be yours via a home study course that spans little more than one month. By and large the professions for this home business opportunity are real estate appraiser or gemologist. The scam behind this promise is the notion that course material must be purchased and then mastered upon which you are promised to be offered valid leads in your area. While it sounds good, the fact that the training course may be as much as a couple thousand dollars should warn you off! 3. Fad or fiction? As you are surfing the web you come across the amazing supplements that may cause 30 pounds of weight loss in one week, grow curly locks on bald pates, or enhance certain aspects of the male anatomy. As proof you will be regaled with alleged testimonials and wonderful sounding marketing information. Even as it sounds like a great multi level marketing opportunity, you will notice that the company is not talking about bringing other distributors into the business. By and large it will be claimed that she or he is only looking for a limited number of apprentices - a sure tip off that the site owner is setting up an affiliate network for themselves but will not see you as a down line recruit but instead little more than a cash generating sales person who will get a small percentage of a much larger pie. You will be wise to move on and not sign up for odd supplements in the first place and only bona fide MLM opportunities in the second. Do not become someone's underpaid affiliate in an effort to work from home!
