The first step in making your affiliate marketing business a success is to treat it like a business. Here are a few questions to ask yourself:
1.How much time can I devote to this business?
2.Where will I work undisturbed?
3.How can I find two hours more a week?
4.How will I prioritize my working time?
5.What products or services will I market?
You may be working part-time as an affiliate, or may have more time available because you have retired or lost your job, or have a part-time job. Either way, you need to decide how many hours you can devote to the work, I suggest that 10 hours a week is the minimum.
Find a workspace without interruptions
The next stage is to make sure that you are working somewhere without distractions, such as a TV or the family, and that family members know that when you are working you are not to be disturbed. This is essential if you are only working 10 hours a week, but of course you can break off to talk about a problem with someone if you are working most of the day. However, make sure that you do not drift off to do something else and not do the work you set out to do.
When you are working a couple of hours in the evening, it is so easy to go and watch your favorite soap or some other program, especially if someone comes up and tells you this is something you must see. Resist the temptation or you will not get anything done.
How can you find two more hours a week more for your affiliate marketing business? The easiest way is to do some work at the weekend.
Allocate time to your tasks
Once you are working the time you allocated, the next important step is to work out what you are going to do with that time. The priorities are:
1.Find a suitable niche market, which could be something you know about
2.Find products that fit that niche exactly
3.Market those products
How do you go about these things? Well, do not just pick your hobby. First, find what the competition is by searching at Google with term you want to use in "" like this: "used auto parts".
There are 1.9 million sites promoting used auto parts, which is pretty competitive, but you really want something that is more of a niche than that, like "used import car parts". The competition there is much less at 1,900 sites.
You can easily search for affiliate products in your niche, but you need to make sure you will get paid a reasonable amount for each sale you refer.
Take your time during this stage, and do make sure that there is a big market out there for the product you want to market.
Now, you start marketing just one product or merchant's products. You need to select your method, and make sure you spend your time doing the various aspects of that work, which will probably include writing articles for distribution, building a niche website, and possibly advertising on Adwords.
To make this work, make lists of jobs, and carry over those not done to the next day. This is the route to success for your affiliate marketing business.
